6 Points to a successful blog

This is an article from one of our past newsletters:
Choose a topic that you know, like, and are passionate about. This way you will never get bored and will keep your audience always interested and asking for more.
Open a Blogger account. It is free and easy to use. You can also use the free WordPress accounts or if you're more internet savvy install Wordpress and host it yourself. Blogger is owned by Google though and because of this, in my experience, you run higher onsearch engines.
Almost always post a picture with a blog entry! It adds interest and color. You can easily load photos free with Webshots or Flickr . They can be items, arty, family (crop and be artsy if you want) or whatever relates to your topic.
In your blog's sidebar, create links related to your topic. It looks bare without them and it creates more usable content for your readers.
Post, post, post! Two or three times a week is ideal. Once a week is the borderline minimum that I recommend to keep your audience engaged and maintain adequate visibility in the search engines. You can "pre-write" posts and post them as you go along. Most blog sites allow you to write drafts - post when you're ready!
Make comments on other people's blogs. They will most certainly come to your blog to say hi or see who you are. Community is what's most important in blogging and there are a LOT of blogs out there. Set yours apart from the rest!

Tips for Newsletter Success

We've been helping customers send newsletters for about 6 years now. I have learned many things, made many mistakes, changed providers (from Ezine Director to Constant Contact) and changed my creative approach many times.

However, several lessons have come out of my years of experience:

Keep them consistent

I really struggle with this but it's really important. You want people to expect your newsletter, but not to be harassed. Keep them newsy and informational. Find reasons to send them but provide useful content, not all just promotional ideas. Pictures are great!

Reviewing e-mail reports is key

By taking a look at undeliverable and bounce-back reports, you can see which of your subscribers corporate email systems block the e-newsletters. Contact them personally to let them know they're missing out on the issues they've requested.

When you operate a small business, it can be painful to look at the unsubscribe list. It's hard not to take it personally when you see names you know on the list. However, it's a great tool for tracking lost business and trying to win them back! (I'd suggest this in person and not through email! :-) )

Newsletters are relationships!

A recent Doubleclick survey of more than 1,000 Internet users found that more than 82 percent of them had made a purchase online during the past year as a result of some sort of advertisement they received through email. The study revealed, however, that people were much more receptive to email from companies with whom they already had a relationship.

Finally, remember that newsletters are just one tool in your marketing toolbox. If they are eager to hear from you, then the newsletters will work!

Think about what you would spend your time reading in your email inbox!

Newsflash: US Healthcare Cost Kills Economy

Okay, you thought that the Wall Street rich greedy scum are responsible for "depress-regress" of our economy, with their Ponzi scheme that they used to control our credit markets for the last 20 years. Their freewheeling attitude of "a home for everyone" to help Main Street and our economy grow. At the same time, I will scratch your back, if you scratch mine, by you buying my debt and I buying yours, and we make tons of money and really not create any value. I would say Ponzi Street we call the US banking system, was the tipping point to our present state, but we were already headed to the hospital.

The truth is no business entity (small, medium, or large) in the US can afford the raising cost of health care. What business can increase their revenues enough to provide employee benefits when cost to delivering those services increase by double digits for a period of 8 year time period, year after year. You are going to have to cut somewhere or die!

Unfortunately, the quickest way is by cutting labor costs. You hire less and downsize. Which leads to less people with jobs and less money circulating in the economy.

This is just what has happened in the US. Companies looked for cheaper ways to deliver their products and services by reducing and exporting jobs. Till we developed a multiple effect, were that was aggravated by, the cost of health care and loss of jobs, the mismanagement of Ponzi Street and the Energy industry (they have their own Ponzi Scheme going on) put Main Street in foreclosure, and Wall Street on live support asking for a heart transplant from the government.

Until, we as a nation, realize that health care is not optional and is a right to being a citizen of that country, can any business survive. The economy will continue being DOA!

So a few of us stayed later and discussed plans to do this more often. We thought one time a month would be a good idea and we could take turns setting it up and being the "meeting moderator".

*As moderator you pick a place (your house, a bar, restaurant or your business location it's totally up to you)
*Pick a date (looks like Mondays after 7:30 were best at this point)
*Choose a theme or topic or have a guest speaker (or just let be an open meeting)
*At your meeting you can give your spiel for about 15 minutes at the beginning, have your products, booklets, samples or other materials available. You can sell, give info, set up further networking events, have people critique your ads etc...

Then we'll make sure there is time to chat amongst ourselves and mingle, give updates on our businesses and touch base about past and future events. We can be each others own support group and also check up on each other with goals and questions. We'll have a voluntary sign up by month, if you can't be moderator when it's your turn then it's up to you to post and find someone to take your place. Let's try to get someone to sign up every month through the end of this year?? I think other events can always come up too if we end up meeting more or if there is something special you want to present to the group.

Tips to Protect Yourself During Cold & Flu Season

It's here again... cold and flu season. But you can protect yourself and make your cold and flu symptoms go away a lot faster with a little help from Arbonne
